First Bid, First Win! Windey Secures First Energy Storage Project in Central America

    Time:2025-03-20 Number:0 From:Windey

Recently, Windey, in collaboration with EQUINSA, a local Honduran power company, successfully won the EPC turnkey contract for Honduras’ first energy storage project—the Honduras Energy Storage Project—marking a critical breakthrough of "first bid, first win" in its international energy storage business. This achievement not only signifies Windey’s official entry into the global energy storage market but also lays a solid foundation for its future international expansion.

The project, a national key initiative of Honduras, will significantly enhance the stability of Honduras’ power grid and its capacity to integrate renewable energy upon completion, contributing to the optimization of local energy structures and the sustainable development of the regional economy. Honduran Energy Minister Erick Tejada stated, “Once completed, this energy storage project will serve as a pioneering initiative in Central America and become the region’s largest installed energy storage capacity. It will not only strengthen the nation’s energy infrastructure but also optimize energy distribution, holding profound significance for Central America’s energy future.”

This contract marks another milestone in bilateral cooperation in the new energy sector following the signing of the first Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on new energy collaboration between China and Honduras in July 2024, after the establishment of diplomatic relations. Despite challenges such as entering a new national market and facing formidable competitors, Windey’s cross-departmental teams collaborated seamlessly to deliver a high-standard, end-to-end process from bidding to technical documentation submission. This success not only demonstrates Windey’s technical expertise and execution capabilities in energy storage but also establishes a crucial foundation for expanding into the Latin American market and advancing its global energy storage ambitions.

Building on this project as a new starting point, Windey will deepen practical cooperation with Honduran authorities and enterprises in areas such as local microgrid and wind power project development, as well as energy structure transformation and upgrading. As energy storage technology increasingly occupies a strategic position in the global energy transition, Windey will continue to prioritize technological innovation and market expansion, actively engage in international energy storage competition, and promote the implementation of more overseas energy storage projects. This will further elevate its brand influence and global presence, contribute to global energy transition with tangible actions, and collaborate with partners to create a greener, smarter energy future, delivering "Chinese strength" to global sustainable energy development.
